GOVERNMENT

The Province of Alberta is investing $300 million in the Trades and Technology Complex. Premier Ed Stelmach joined SAIT President and CEO Irene Lewis to make the announcement on campus on September 19, 2008.

The Government of Alberta then reconfirmed its support for the Complex in the provincial budget on April 7, 2009 when it listed the project as one of 10 projects across Alberta to support learners in high demand programs in post-secondary institutions.

"Building on our strengths in traditional sectors requires continued investment in trades, healthcare and other skills training,” said Doug Horner, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology. “As we build up new industries we are also planning and preparing Albertans for the next generation economy, with an emphasis on entrepreneurial skills, research and innovation and the commercialization of world-class discoveries and products."
